COVID-19 April Update

Mon 13 April 2020

Dear Malvern Tigers Players and Family,

As Victoria remains in Stage 3 lockdown, it is clear that the Winter 2020 season will be delayed because of COVID-19. The Club is committed to playing basketball this winter season and is ready to “go” as soon as Basketball Victoria and WBA make the decision to recommence.

In line with previous seasons, teams have been selected and coaches and training times allocated. We have registered 35 Girls and 41 Juniors teams to compete in the Winter WBA 2020 competition. SlamStyle is also on track to start delivery of new uniforms.

We appreciate the uncertainties created by the current situation. Therefore, we will not distribute team sheets, as we may need to make amendments based on potential changes to player, coach and training venue availability in the future. However, we have added a page to our website with “Driveway Drills”. These drills will help with your development and fitness while we are all on hiatus – and after! www.malverntigers.org/drivewaydrills

WBA has mapped out a few different contingency plans in the event that the Winter 2020 season is shortened, or in the worst case cancelled. Depending on the timing and structure, the Club will provide registered members with the option for their Malvern Tigers membership fee to be either refunded (in part or whole) or carried over as a credit to pay for the 2020/21 Summer Season. As a not-for-profit organisation, the Club will ensure memberships fees are appropriately returned as a refund or credit.

With all our fingers crossed, we hope to be playing basketball again as soon as possible and for everyone to remain safe and healthy.

Kind regards,
Malvern Tigers Executive Committee
